The game is based on the events of 2 classic Rambo films, including Rambo: First Blood Part II, and Rambo III. It was developed by Sega and first launched to arcades on the Sega Lindbergh Red EX arcade hardware in 2008.
Players take on the role of the classic warrior John Rambo, who's tasked with rescuing his friend, mentor, and commanding officer from his Vietnam days, Colonel Samuel Trautman, who's been captured by Soviet forces. Rambo is also tasked with saving captured POW's from the Vietnam war.
The beginning of the game depicts Rambo and Trautman attempting to escape Soviet forces as depicted in the desert scene of Rambo III.
